Dawn til Dusk I

I have a new plan! I started thinking about this a few weeks ago, and maybe it took the disappointment of not getting into Western States to make me finish the details but here goes. December 20th is the shortest day of the year, 8:42:06 in Oregon. I'm gonna run 45 miles from Dawn til Dusk and finish exactly at the 45th parallel....half way between the Equator and the North Pole. The route will start in Corvallis, go through Albany and finish at the 45th Parallel sign on River Road in Keizer. So, that's the plan. You're welcome to join me for some....or all. I should hit 2500 miles this year. I may even hit it on that run. It's 20 degrees in Salem right now. Hopefully it will warm up a bit by then!

  1. Sorry to hear you didn't make the first lottery but my experience says don't give up. You can volunteer for the event in the capacity of a runner or work an aid station, etc. There is a pacer pool during the event that starts at Forresthill and ends at the finish, total mileage is about 40. You can run all or a section with an entrant. It's a good way to familiarize yourself with the event and the trail and you will get to know people that can have influence, yes it does make a difference. I didn't get in the first time but did two consecutive times after spending time with Race directors etc. I have lots of information that you might find helpful, training programs, course management docs, etc. Keep the Pace.
